Android 4.3 : Another Minor but "Noticeable" Update

Many of us were expecting it on the Google I/O , but, that didn't happen.Today, at  "Breakfast with Sundar Pichai" Google Event, Google finally raised the curtains off its much awaited Android 4.3.

The update, as expected from many analysts & Geeks.. is a Minor Upgrade to Android 4.2.


The new offerings from Android 4.3 :----

- Bluetooth Low Energy, for pairing your device to nearby low power devices 

-> Background WiFi Location & Detection , via which one can scan for Wi-Fi networks, even if the WiFi is Turned Off

-> Multi User Control, with Restricted Profiles where a user can specify what apps & features, other users can access on the same device...... clearly, Copying the concept of Windows Phone's Kid's Corner Once Again.

-> New Camera App, with Improved UI


-> OpenGL ES 3.0,  for Game developers who can now take advantage of OpenGL ES 3.0 and EGL extensions as standard features of Android, with access from either framework or native APIs.



-> Offering Media Capabilities to the Developers in the form of  modular DRM framework that enables to integrate DRM into the streaming protocols such as MPEG DASH. Apps can also access a built-in VP8 encoder from framework or native APIs for high-quality video capture.



-> The apps can now access and interact with the status bar notifications.You can display them in any way you want, like routing them to nearby Bluetooth devices, and update & dismiss notifications as you wish.



Android 4.3 starts rolling out on Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Original Nexus 7, Nexus 10, Google Edition of Galaxy S4 & HTC ONE , "New" Nexus 7
