After "Others", Now Google Search has Gone "FLAT" too

On the 15th Birthday of Google Search, the Primary website of the Google inc. on the Web, has been a Given a Major overhaul in the form of a Flat Look, thus, removing those Beveling & Shadow effects. From the Image you can clearly see, now, its even more Fun & easy to switch to different Google Web services/Apps.
First Windows Phone OS, then Android ICS(and Furthur iterations) , then, iOS 7, then Bing Search & Now Google Search. All the Greatest Tech Giants are on the Road to Go Flat and Modern in their UI Approach.

So, guys What's your take on the New Flat Overhaul of Google and,  Do you think its necessary for a Software/Web Based Co. to Adapt a Modern & Flat Approach in order to appeal more users.
